Reading at Home during Lockdown
On this page you will find many ways to support your child to read at home during this lockdown period. Many authors and illustrators are online daily providing many different opportunities for your child to listen to and enjoy different texts. This page will be updated daily with different activites happening around the digital world - please check back each day for ideas:
FRIDAY 22nd MAY
9am - New 10 Minute Challenge with Matt Robertson (Do You Love Bugs?) on the Authorfy website
9.30am - Pie Corbett will be with Robert Macfarlane on live radio show Radioblogging running literacy games and activities.
10am - Stephen Fry is reading chapter four of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on the Wizarding World Website
10.30am - Litfilm Fest daily writing videos on Youtube
11am - David Walliams is reading chapters from his book Bad Dad, on his website
12pm - Head over to the Skulduggery Pleasant website to listen to the first spine-tingling book in the series or catch up on missed episodes.
1pm - Justin Somper will be launching a new Vampirates Challenge on Instagram
2pm - Anna James will be chatting with Ross Montgomery, author of The Midnight Guardians, on Youtube
2.30pm - Piers Torday will be reading The Last Wild on Instagram Live
3pm - Nosy Crow are releasing a free picture book, which you can read along to on their website
3.30pm - Puffin Storytime on Youtube
4pm - Holly Jackson will be chatting about her book, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, with Fiona Noble on Twitter
Matt Brown will be reading his book, Mutant Zombies Cursed My School Trip, on Facebook
5pm - Sit back and listen to Nosy Crow's Book at Bedtime over on their website
6pm - Dan Freedman is doing a Q&A with IsoRead, set up by 17yo Moussa who wanted to do something to unite communities around books
+ Jeff Norton is reading a chapter from his book, Alienated on Youtube
6.30pm - Tom Fletcher will be reading his stories live on YouTube and Insta
7pm - Stay at home storytime with Oliver Jeffers on Instagram Live
