I am really sorry everyone, I have just noticed that the past two weeks posts have not gone live. I have copied the photographs from the draft folder and put them together. The children had tackled multiplication and visited the pond for the first time this year. We are currently homing a lot of tadpoles in our classroom after our pond dip.
The children have really been inspired by the new season. This week they have been learning how to measure in cm by writing bean and pea diaries. They measure the growth of their bean each week and calculate how far it has grown.
The children have been so creative when building a scene for the retelling of our Grace Darling story. The animations should be wonderful when complete and hopefully we can share them with you on our blog. What a great start to a new term from everyone.
What an interesting week we have had in Robin Class. We have been digging for dinosaur remains, creating music that represents the movement of dinosaurs and sorted and classified all the artifacts we found.
Through our history lessons this week the children have been learning about a significant person from the past. We have started learning all about Grace Darling and decided to retell the story of her life through animation. The children began their sculptures of Grace, her father William and the survivors from the SS Forfarshire. Watch out Aardman animation the next Oscar is ours!
What an amazing start to the term. The children went on a Gruffalo hunt on Friday and found the trail from a snake, a fox's underground home a clump of Gruffalo fur and giant footsteps. We got stuck in a bog and climbed the highest hill. I still feel dizzy from rolling back down. We did not however, find a Gruffalo. Or did we? Take a very close look at the photographs attached below.
The Robin Class would like to wish everyone a fantastic festive period. We would also like to say thank you for all your help and lovely gifts over the last term. Below are a few pictures of the fun activities the children have been participating in. This week we challenged the children to make a tall structure that could hold a packet of sweets. The children thought this would be easy until they realised I had only given them a newspaper to make it out of.
The Robin Class have had a really busy and enjoyable week. They started by meeting their new Year 5 reading buddy who will read with them individually every Tuesday. The preparation for Christmas has well and truly started and the children finished the week by creating stories on the iPads. They have used an app called puppet pals and when we have completed the stories we shall try and share on our blog if the technology allows. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
here is a link to the Divali assembly. Thank you all very much for coming and a huge congratulations to Robin Class.
The children sculpted diva lamps this week to use as props in our upcoming assembly. The children also designed and decorated the lamps which we shall show off in our family assembly today. The children have worked really hard on their performance and we hope you can all make it on Friday 4th November at 9.15am. Please check school bags for the scripts as the children have been set the task of mastering their lines over the holiday.
Enjoy the time at home together next week it has been a fantastic first term in Robin Class.
