Today Flamingo Class walked to Ashton Park Secondary School to take part in the KS1 Dance Festival with 7 other schools from South Bristol. We performed our Hawaiian themed dance that we have been busy practicing for the last few weeks. I was incredibly proud of Flamingoes performance, there enthusiasm for their dance was amazing. A big thank you to all parents for providing costumes and to those who walked with us today. Here are a few photos from today. I hope to be able to share a video of the performance soon.
Please come to Family Assembly this Friday when we will be performing live for you all!
We have had a brilliant start to our dinosaur week. I am so impressed with all the models, posters and books Flamingos have brought in to show us. Thank you to parents for supporting learning at home this weekend, I can tell how much the children enjoyed it from their enthusiasm!
Today we had a visit from the Bristol Dinosaur Project and we learnt about a dinosaur discovered in a quarry up on the Downs. We were able to touch and learn about some real fossils.
Back in class we collaborated together to solve this problem: Put 17 dinosaur eggs into 3 nests. Each nest should have an odd number of eggs. How many different ways can you do this?

Flamingo Class must have had a fantastic holiday as they came back full of energy and raring to go with their learning!
Here are some pictures from last week:
- In Maths we solved the mystery of the missing Snowman's nose by using our maths skills to solve clues.
- We had a fun afternoon building sleigh's for Santa, we worked together brilliantly.
- We have started reading The Twits by Roald Dahl. We made a beard for Mr Twit and stuck food into it.
Miss Green and Mrs Batchelor would like to wish all of Flamingo Class and their families and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you so much for all of our gifts and cards!
Here are a some photos from our Christmas Party yesterday. A great time was had by all!

Yesterday we finished our topic by acting out the story. Here are some of our pictures:
Lola the cat had been very naughty and had knocked over a cup of water. We needed to find out the best towel to mop up the water. We experimented with five different types of towel: Ultra thirsty, Jumbo, Sainsbury's, a pupil paper towel and an adult paper towel. Our results were mixed, we decided we couldn't be sure if we all had the same size of drops. Flamingos were brilliant at observing when the water traveled through the towel. The best two towels were Ultra thirsty and the adult paper towel. Here are some photos of our investigation:
What an amazing day we have had in Flamingo Class making bread! I'm very tired now! Flamingos have been so busy sieving the flour, mixing the yeast & water, kneading the dough and baking their bread. It has been an enjoyable day, the children have been so excited, especially when their own rolls came out of the oven. I hope it tasted as good as it looked! Enjoy our photos from today!
Fantastic comments Flamingo!
Here is the next challenge:
In our class story we need 3 new animals. What should they be?
