For our literacy topic we have been looking at special boxes belonging to different characters (please ask your child who was in the special box today). For half term homework I would like your child to make a special box (a shoe box is a good size) that is all about them. Please decorate the box and fill it with items which are special to your child, e.g. photos, a toy, an award. Please bring this into school on Monday 3rd November as we will be using these boxes as a stimulus for our writing.
In history we are investigating school in the past. Please talk with your child about what school was like for you, and maybe they could also ask a Grandparent as well. I would love to see any videos you may make of these interviews.
Please continue to read at least three times during the holiday, I will be checking reading records on the first day back to school.
Our spellings this week all end with the -nk sound:
Wishing you all a lovely half term break!
Today and tomorrow we have been putting words into alphabetical order. These games help us to practice this skill:
In Robin Class this week we have been making our own version of the three little pigs story. We started on Tuesday by creating the three new good characters. On Wednesday we chose materials for the houses to be made out of. On Thursday we invented our bad character and practised describing it. Finally on Friday we planned what happened to the bad character when they tried to get into the third house. We ended the week by putting all these elements together into a story map of the entire story. Aimee-Rose and Archie H recorded their story using the iPads, have a listen here:
